Peaceful holidays

Pamplona basin

Pamplona welcomes the visitor with a wide range of hotels, hostels, guesthouses and apartments all over the city. A nearby campsite and a number of rural houses in the surrounding villages mean that the visitor can choose the type of environment in which they would like to stay. The city has many parks and is uncrowded all year round, except during the Sanfermines between July 6th and 14th, when the city transforms itself completely into a giant fiesta.

Pamplona is a city to leave stress behind. Let time go by slowly on a café terrace in the Plaza del Castillo, in the historical heart of the city. It is a pleasure just people watching while tasting a pincho (tapa) with a good glass of 'Navarra' designation of origin wine, or feeling the warm sun that lights up the colourful square.

It is time to forget your watch, stroll through parks such as the Ciudadela (Citadel) or La Taconera, enjoy the architecture of its streets and listen to the stories and legends of the city through the silence of its walls, the route followed by the Pilgrim's Way or the Gothic cloister of the Cathedral of Santa María, one of the most beautiful in Europe.

The tranquillity of the city means that you can enjoy a walk along the Encierro (Bull Run) of the Sanfermines and get a feel for the tension of the run in the sharp corner at the end of Calle Mercaderes or the famous Calle Estafeta.

A visit to Pamplona can be rounded off with a whole range of leisure, culture and sports activities. You can try rock climbing, hang-gliding, trekking, horse riding or golf in the area around Pamplona, in a natural setting dotted with small, well-kept villages. Key places are the El Perdón mountain range, the spring at Arteta that supplies water to Pamplona, and the Ollo and Ultzama valleys.
