Why Navarre?

The Central Zone: villages, castles and monasteries

Visiting the Central Zone of Navarre is like strolling through a history book. At every step you will find fortresses, noble houses and castles that denote their strategic importance in the Middle Ages. On each page there are churches, monasteries and villages that grew up along the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago. In Puente la Reina the two main routes of the 'French' Pilgrim's Way, from Roncesvalles and Sangüesa, come together.

The landscape of the Central Zone of Navarre is dotted with vineyards, cereal and olive fields in the ribera estelles, and gives way to the plains of La Ribera (literally, 'riviera') of the Ebro in the south of Navarre.

We propose the following tours in order to discover the Central Zone:

Ruta 8: Olite, Ujué, monasterio de la Oliva, y la Valdorba
Ruta 9: Eunate, Puente la Reina, Estella, monasterio de Irache, Los Arcos, Torres del Río y Viana
